About Monvestor

A licensed general contractor built around a simple idea: the company that draws the scope should be the company that performs it.

The Founder

Jhon Monroy

Founder, Monvestor Construction Group LLC

I came up in this business on my father’s job sites, and along the way I have been the client as well as the contractor, buying, renovating and holding investment property of my own.

That taught me things a purely contracting background does not. I learned which corners get cut and exactly when they surface. I learned how a schedule slips: not in one dramatic event, but in a dozen small handoffs between companies that do not answer to each other.

So we built Monvestor differently. We self-perform the trades that cause the most trouble, including electrical, plumbing and masonry, and we put one project manager over the whole job. When something turns up behind a wall, we solve it that week.

Whether you are a family building the house you intend to stay in, or an investor who needs numbers that survive contact with reality, you get the same standard of work and the same straight answers.

The Family Trade

Second generation.

I did not start in this trade on my own. My father, Tony Monroy, has been building for decades, and I came up working on his jobs.

Together we launched Onyx Contracting Services, which he owns outright. Monvestor Construction Group is my own branch of that work, run by me, built on the same standards and often the same crews.

If you see Tony’s name in the reviews on this site, that is why. He taught me this trade and he is still the person I call when a job needs a second opinion. His standard is what I hold our work to.

Who owns what

Onyx Contracting Services is owned outright by Tony Monroy. Monvestor Construction Group LLC is a separate business, owned and run by Jhon Monroy. The two work together often and share crews on many jobs.

What We Stand On

Four things we will not trade away.

01

An honest scope

We would rather lose a job at the estimate than discover it halfway through. If your budget does not cover what you are describing, we say so at the walk-through.

02

Our own crews

Electrical, plumbing and masonry are performed in-house. Fewer handoffs means fewer markups, tighter schedules and a single person accountable.

03

What is behind the wall

Wiring, waste lines, insulation and structure never appear in a listing photo, and they are the first things to fail. We correct them properly.

04

Finishing properly

A job is not done when it looks done. We walk every project with the client, write the punch list together and close every item.

Where We Work

Westchester first, and the region around it.

Westchester County is home and the bulk of our portfolio sits there, in Scarsdale and the surrounding towns. We also work in New York City and into nearby Connecticut.

If you are just outside that footprint, it is still worth a call. Depending on the size and length of the project we can often make it work.
